In recent years, a joyous shift has taken place in the world of denim.
After flaunting their shapely limbs in skinny jeans, and probably also suffocating them in the bargain, our divas are opting for more relaxed ones. In the latest spotting, Raveena Tandon showed how it’s done by teaming loose capris with a white cold-shoulder top. Just a day before that, gen-now girl Ananya Panday also pulled off the no-fuss look with elan with a white top and a light blue ankle-length number.
BLUE AND WHITE
The blue-and-white combination seems to be a favourite with almost all the ladies. Shraddha Kapoor wore a slouchy pair and looked laid-back with her no make-up look and Karisma Kapoor holidayed in London with the same pairing. Patralekhaa and Nushrat Bharucha added a sensual touch by teaming the denim with knotted T-shirts, flaunting their toned midriffs. The latter chose to go distressed with the pants cinched at the waist. Kriti Sanon set off the plain look with a green jacket.
Jacqueline Fernandez wore it differently and gave it a sexy twist with an off-shoulder corset top with puffy sleeves, while Janhvi Kapoor went for another classic coupling, black and blue.
ALL ABOUT COMFORT
Designer Nachiket Barve describes the trend as comfort meeting style. “For travel especially, we have seen Bollywood actresses wearing tight or super-skinny jeans over the years. With this trend, it is like comfort meeting style and the baggy jeans work inherently nicely,” says he. Designer Rick Roy, too, opines that all things loose are in. “Anti-fit pants are in big-time. It’s all about comfort, as simple as that,” he states. Right enough, style maven Kareena Kapoor Khan wore it with a striped top and denim jacket while collecting air miles last month.
HOW TO ROCK IT
When choosing the anti-fit attire, Nachiket suggests a few things to keep in mind. “It works better for someone fit and lean. Baggy or loose jeans would make a curvy person look fat,” he points out. To ace the look in daily routine, the designer says, “The important thing is to look stylish intentionally, but in some cases, it happens to look laid-back. To avoid such blunders, the loose denim should be paired with sunglasses or a nice handbag with hair done right. One should make sure that it does not look poorly-fitted and that is something to keep in mind than anything else.”
