Sridevi with Janhvi Kapoor

Janhvi Kapoor shared in a recent interview that her mother and late actress Sridevi was in denial that her daughters were growing up and needed to wear undergarments.

Sridevi was one of the most celebrated actresses in the history of Indian cinema. The actress passed away in 2018 at the age of 54 due to accidental drowning in her guest room in Dubai. She was married to producer Boney Kapoor and now, her two daughters Janhvi Kapoor and Khushi Kapoor are carrying forward her legacy in the Hindi film industry.

In a recent interview, Janhvi opened up on how Sridevi was a really protective mother and never realised that her daughters are growing up and thus, never thought that Janhvi and Khushi needed to wear undergarments when they were young. When Janhvi was asked in an interview with Hauterrfly who introducer her to her first bra, the actress said, "That Mumma did, but she was in denial that her girls were growing up for a very long time. She thought, 'Ye toh bachhi hai, isko abhi in cheezo ki zarorrat hai hi nahi (She's just a kid, she won't need these things).' I was like, I think I need it mom. Like, I really think I do."

The actress also shared how her father Boney Kapoor encouraged her mother Sridevi to work even after she and Khushi were born. Janhvi told the same portal, "She gave up her career when she had me. She didn't want to work on her own. Because she thought that 'I worked for so many years'. In fact, Papa was the one who was like, 'The kids have grown up now. And you get so much happiness from work. I will take care of them. I will stay with them during school. I will schedule a summer vacation. If you want to do this film, please do it. We will all come.' So he was very encouraging."

Meanwhile, on the work front, Janhvi is awaiting the release of Ulajh. The espionage thriller also stars Gulshan Devaiah, Roshan Mathew, Rajesh Tailang, and Adil Hussain in the pivotal roles and is helmed by the National Award-winning director Sudhanshu Saria. Ulajh releases in cinemas on August 2.
