Jawan has collected Rs 75 crore net in India on its firast day, with its large chunk coming from the Hindi version alone - Rs 65 crore.

Directed by Atlee and headlined by Shah Rukh Khan, Jawan has finally been released in the theatres on Thursday, September 7. As the film received overwhelmingly positive reviews from audiences and critics, Jawan has taken an earth-shattering opening at the box office setting the record for biggest Bollywood opening ever.

As per the early estimates from the entertainment tracking portal Sacnlk.com, the action-packed masala entertainer earned Rs 65 crore from its Hindi version, surpassing the previous record set by Shah Rukh Khan himself in January this year with Pathaan. The Siddharth Anand directorial, also starring Deepika Padukone and John Abraham, had earned Rs 55 crore on its first day of theatrical release.

Jawan also collected Rs 5 crore each from its dubbed versions in Telugu and Tamil, taking the first day net India collections to Rs 75 crore. It is expected that the Atlee film will add Rs 50-60 crore from its overseas collection and the final first day worldwide earnings would stand at around Rs 135 crore which will be the fourth biggest opening ever for an Indian film, behind only SS Rajamouli's RRR and  Baahubali 2, and Prashanth Neel's KGF Chapter 2.

Apart from Shah Rukh Khan, Jawan has Vijay Sethupathi as the main antagonist and Nayantha marking her Bollywood debut as the leading lady. Deepika Padukone makes a special appearance and Sanjay Dutt also makes a cameo in the film's climax. The director Atlee himself is seen in a surprising camo in the Zinda Banda song.

Produced by Gauri Khan under Red Chillies Entertainment, Jawan is set to break multiple box office records in its opening weekend. Trade experts are of the opinion that with his latest release Jawan, Shah Rukh Khan could also surpass his previous film Pathaan's record (Rs 534 crore) of being the highest earning Bollywood film in India.
