Sonakshi Sinha, Riteish Deshmukh, and Saqib Saleem are all geared up to entertain audiences with their horror-comedy film Kakuda, directed by Aditya Sarpotdar, released on ZEE5 on July 12th. The cast of the film recently interacted with DNA and talked about their experiences of working with each other.
When asked about Kakuda and why he appears only at 7:15 pm, director Aditya explained, “Kakuda is the ghost of a village called Ratodi and comes at 7:15 pm. He has a very peculiar habit of coming to the village every Tuesday at 7:15 pm. So in the village, every house has two doors, one is small and other one is a big one. So the smaller one is for the ghost. If the smaller door is closed when Kakuda comes, then he gets angry. He will knock on the door. And when someone opens the door he will kill that person within 13 days.”
He further mentioned, “So our ghost has many rules and regulations. He is systematic. So he is a very fascinating ghost of Rahthodi village.” On being asked if they believe in paranormal activities, Saqib Salim replied, “I have never encountered any paranormal thing.”
Aditya added, “I do believe in energy. I do believe in positive and negative energies. I always have that feeling when you go to a place so you get that vibe if that place is good or bad. So yeah I believe in energies.”
Riteish also shared his views and said, “I think they do exist, fear, energies kind of kind. I don’t think particularly a ghost. But there is an energy to the place that exists. If you will abandon some place or a building then you visit that place, and you feel there is someone. Like Aditya said, energies.”
When asked about who was the naughty one on the set, Aditya replied, “Aasif Khan was the funniest. He and Saqib have many scenes with each other, so they used to spend a lot of time with each other. They have an amazing comic timing. They were not friends earlier, they became friends on the set. And their friendship can be seen on the set also. They both used to execute ideas together. And because of these two, our shoot became more interesting.”
The director then recalled a scene in which Saqib and Aasif were portrayed as drunk. He said, “So there was a scene in which they are drinking. So I decided to actually give them alcohol, to shoot the scene. So that the scene looks real, not fake. There are very less actors who can play such scenes without looking fake. So after 2-3 retakes, I got to knowAasifwas not in his senses, he doesn’t drink at all. Then he was like ‘Bhai everything is moving.’ And I was worried about his dialogue, because it was his shoot and I was thinking what if he forgets the dialogue? But he did it eventually, and it was a fun shoot.”
He further called Riteish very patient, as it was a night shoot and no actor likes to shoot at night. Riteish then said, “Out of 35 days, we worked 23 days at night.”
Kakuda, which is a horror comedy, is set to release on July 12 on ZEE5
