Karan justified it by saying that because she couldn’t reciprocate the love Ranbir’s character Ayan has, he killed her

Karan Johar is all set to begin his next directorial Takht soon, but his previous directorial film Ae Dil Hai Mushkil starring Ranbir Kapoor and Anushka Sharma in lead roles is still facing the after-effects of being made. Many people could not understand why would Karan kill Anushka’s character rather than showing a better ending.

When asked about the same in a recent interview, Karan justified it by saying that because she couldn’t reciprocate the love Ranbir’s character Ayan has, he killed her. To top it up, he said that a filmmaker is ‘God’ and has the power to ‘destroy’.

He said, “Yes, the last track met with many polarised responses and rightfully so, but I was like she didn’t love him, she has to die. I wrote this character. He loved her so crazily. She could’ve loved him back, why couldn’t she? So she got cancer and she died.”

“Well, she got punished, I wrote it. See, a filmmaker is a God, you write, you create and you destroy,” added the director who had previously helmed Kuch Kuch Hota Hai, Kabhi Khushi Kabhi Gham, Kabhi Alvida Na Kehna, My Name Is Khan and Student Of The Year.

Like expected, the comments invited army of trolls, who definitely were not in the mood for fun over his ‘full of himself’ comment. Here are some of the trolls:

The Diwali release had clashed with Ajay Devgn’s Shivaay, causing major fallout between friends Karan Johar and Kajol (Ajay’s wife). Things however looked positive for Karan post Baahubali success. The filmmaker is now producing various films like Akshay Kumar starrer Kesari, Ranbir Kapoor-Alia Bhatt’s Brahmastra, Kareena Kapoor Khan-Akshay Kumar starrer Good News, Tiger Shroff’s Student Of The Year 2 and Varun Dhawan’s Rannbhoomi. He will also be directing Takht which will star Ranveer Singh, Kareena Kapoor Khan, Alia Bhatt, Vicky Kaushal, Bhumi Pednekar, Janhvi Kapoor and Anil Kapoor.
