Kartik Aaryan

The film opened to a collection of Rs 8.01 crore making it the biggest opener for Kartik’s movies till date

Known for his epic monologues in the 'Pyaar Ka Punchnama' franchise, spiked hair and easy charm, Kartik Aaryan has all the reasons to celebrate his big win at the box office. His latest release, Luka Chuppi, shot in his home town, Gwalior, and based on the subtle complexities of a live-in relationship, has brought in a lot of his fans to the ticket windows. The film opened to a collection of Rs 8.01 crore making it the biggest opener for Kartik’s movies till date.

Trade analyst Taran Adarsh observed, “Luka Chuppi marks Kartik Aaryan’s biggest opener, beating his last blockbuster Sonu Ke Titu Ki Sweety (2018), which opened at Rs 6.42 crore, Pyaar Ka Punchnama 2 (2015), which opened with Rs 6.80 crore and the movie which shot him to fame, Pyaar Ka Punchnama (2011) with just Rs 92 lakh on the opening day.”

Clearly this boy-next-door is quietly emerging as one of the most promising stars in Hindi cinema. And his win is even more noticeable because he did score more brownie points than many others.

Comparing these with some of the other releases of last year, Taran pointed out, “Luka Chuppi has superb Day 1... Springs a big, big surprise... Opens bigger than Raazi (Rs 7.53 cr), Stree (Rs 6.83 cr) and Badhaai Ho (Rs 7.29 cr) (sic) “ In other words, this Kartik-starrer passed the Friday test with flying colours.

As is the practice with many Bollywood stars, Kartik, too, visited a single screen on the first day where he was showered with a lot of love and big applause. Encouraging reactions from the aam junta at the theatre gave the actor a sense of immense satisfaction and joy. With a strong word of mouth carrying the film through on its second day as well, we are guessing that this romantic comedy will prove to be another winner for the young actor, who is now on a solid wicket in Bollywood.
