Sharbari Dutta, a well-known fashion designer from Kolkata who actor Vidya Balan once endorsed, was found dead under mysterious circumstances in her bathroom

Renowned fashion designer from Kolkata, Sharbari Dutta was found dead under mysterious circumstances yesterday in her house. Dutta was found lying unconscious in the bathroom of her Karaya home last night. Police has registered an unnatural death case and post mortem to be conducted today. 

She was 63 when she breathed her last. She was not reachable on phone since morning, the family told PTI. The doctors diagnosed stroke as the reason for her death but sent the body for a post-mortem examination as it was found in the washroom, family sources said.

Dutta pioneered in men’s wear and her designs have been worn by Vidya Balan and many other actors. She is the daughter of celebrated Bengali poet Ajit Dutta, known for his literary innovations in the post-Rabindranath era.

Sharbari did her graduation from Presidency College and took her Master's Degree in Philosophy from Calcutta University. She is survived by her fashion designer son Amalin Dutta.

Singers Parama Banerjee and Ujjaini Mukherjee, actors Srabonty Chatterjee, Rukmini Moitra and Pujarini Ghosh, theatre personality-director Debesh Chatterjee expressed grief and shock on social media.
