Kunal Kohli has roped in a South Indian actor to play Ram in the adaptation of the Ramayan

Kunal Kohli has not revealed the name of the actor as he has not signed the dotted line

Filmmaker Kunal Kohli had earlier announced that he is willing to make an adaptation of the epic Ramayana with newcomers and has been negotiating with various film corporates in order to get them to lay a hand on his film. 

The latest update on the same is that Kunal has roped in a South Indian star for the role of Lord Rama, but it is too early to reveal his name just yet. 

Earlier the rumour mills had it that Kunal had signed television actor Ravi Dubey for the role, but when asked the Fanaa director denied signing him for the movie. 

He said, as quoted by Bollywood Hungama, “Ravi Dubey has not been signed for Ramayana.” 

Further talking about male lead he told the website, “Yes, talks have been going on with a South based actor but since it in process, it will not be fair to reveal his name.” 

Kunal said that all names of the cast will be revealed together and in a short span of time. Till then, specualtion is all we have! 

The website had reported earlier that Kunal Kohli was fascinated by certain episodes of the epic and wanted to adapt it into a film. 

He had also said that the movie will not have a political undertone and that he does not even pretend to understand the first thing about politics. 

Kunal Kohli also revealed that he wanted to cast fresh faces for the film as established stars with image do not work with the mythological theme and therefore it is better to take new promising actors.

Kunal’s last film was Teri Meri Kahaani starring Shahid Kapoor and Priyanka Chopra in the lead roles.
