Aamir Khan’s ex-wife, filmmaker Kiran Rao who made her directorial debut with the feature film Dhobi Ghat is all set to make her directorial comeback after 11 years with her film Laapata Ladies which will have a grand premiere at Toronto International Film Festival.
On Thursday, Aamir Khan Productions took to their Instagram and shared the poster of Kiran Rao’s upcoming directorial Laapata Ladies and wrote, “Ab milega #LaapataaLadies ka pata 5th January 2024 ko, aapke nazdiki cinema gharon mein. Directed by #KiranRao Original Story by #BiplabGoswami Screenplay & Dialogues by @snehadesaiofficial Additional Dialogues by #DivyanidhiSharma Produced by #Aamirkhan #KiranRao #JyotiDeshpande.”
Aamir Khan and Kiran Rao have joined hands for the film Laapataa Ladies which will be screened at the grand premiere at the prestigious Toronto International Film Festival on September 8. The movie however is scheduled to release on January 5, 2024.
Set in 2001, in rural parts of India, 'Laapataa Ladies' follows the jolly mess that ensues when two young brides get lost from a train. The film stars Nitanshi Goel, Pratibha Ranta, Sparsh Shrivastava, Chhaya Kadam, and Ravi Kishan in lead roles.
Presented by Jio Studios, 'Laapataa Ladies' is directed by Kiran Rao and produced by Aamir Khan and Jyoti Deshpande. The film has been made under the banner of Aamir Khan Productions and Kindling Productions, with the script based on an award-winning story by Biplab Goswami. The screenplay & dialogue are written by Sneha Desai, while the additional dialogues have been jotted down by Divyanidhi Sharma.
Meanwhile, after his last release Laal Singh Chaddha failed to perform well at the box office, Aamir Khan has taken a break from acting and revealed that he would do a film when is 'emotionally ready'. The actor interacted with media at the trailer launch of Laal Singh Chadha and said, "Today, we should ideally only talk about Carry On Jatta, but since you all must be curious, let me quickly give you an answer. I haven't decided to do any film as of now. I want to spend time with my family right now. I'm feeling good about it because that's what I want to do right now. I'll do a film when I'm emotionally ready, for sure,”
