Lara Dutta celebrates 20 years of being crowned as Miss Universe 2000; treats fans photos from event

Lara Dutta took to her Instagram page and shared a series of photos from Miss India Universe event wherein she won the title.
Lara Dutta became the second Indian to be crowned at Miss Universe pageant in the year 2000. She was also touted as millennium's Miss Universe and as per reports has the record of gaining most points ever. It was on May 12, 2020, the actor won the title at the event held in Nicosia, Cyprus. Now, as she completed 20 years, Lara took to her Instagram page and shared a series of photos from the event of every round till the crowning moment.
She wrote, "20 years to the day!! 12 th May 2000, Nicosia, Cyprus. What a wonderful gift to receive from the universe! One I’m eternally grateful for. @missindiaorg @missdivaorg @timesofindia @missuniverse #MilleniumsMissUniverse". During the crowning moment, Lara stunned in a red gown with a thigh-high slit and a long red dupatta.
After Lara, no Indian has been crowned as Miss Universe and the actor is waiting for her successor. Talking about the same, she told DNA Online, "I'm also asked how I feel and I keep saying that I'm so ready to Crown a new successor now for a new girl, fresh blood to take on this title. 20 years is a long time and you know this is something that will always be such an integral part of your life I will always be India's Miss Universe of the millennium."
When Lara was crowned Miss Universe, Priyanka Chopra won the Miss World title and Dia Mirza won Miss Asia Pacific in the same year.
