The words Lashtam Pashtam might sound like a folksy, funny, colloquial-sounding tongue twister, but actually it’s the title of a soon-to-release film that celebrates brotherhood. While it has an India-Pakistan context, its essence can be true for any friendship that transcends the limitations of political boundaries drawn between us.
Directed by debutant Manav Bhalla, the trailer of the film, which features late Om Puri, Tisca Chopra, Dolly Ahluwalia, Ishita Dutta, Feryna Wazheir, Vibhav Roy and Samar Vermani, is out now.
Lashtam Pashtam is one of Padma Shri recipient Om Puri’s last projects. His prolific body of work appealed to audiences across the globe. It is a fateful coincidence that before his untimely demise he was working on this movie that commemorates warmth beyond borders.
According to producer and director Manav Bhalla, “Lashtam Pashtam is a film that celebrates universal brotherhood. We were blessed to have a talented cast led by the legendary Om Puriji, who not only gave his best to the film but also believed in its theme. The movie highlights the values that Omji held very dear — as a human being and as an actor — peace and harmony, and is aptly set to release this Independence Day weekend. I will forever cherish having worked with Omji on (probably) his last film and my first.”
Lashtam Pashtam, produced by Manav Bhalla and Gheorghe Seran and directed by Manav Bhalla, releases worldwide on August 10.
