Dilwale (1993), Harry Baweja's directorial stars Ajay Devgn, Raveena Tandon and Suniel Shetty in key roles. The romantic action drama had chartbuster music by Nadeem-Shravan, and a few songs are still best remembered by moviegoers. 

How did Dilwale revive actors' careers? 

Before Dilwale, Ajay was seen in Sangraam, Shaktimaan, Dil Hai Betaab, Ek Hi Raasta, Bedardi, and Dhanwaan. All of these films released in 1993 were mega-flops. Dilwale gave the much-needed hit to Ajay. The success of this romantic drama also reportedly broke the 'jinx' tag. She was also suffering from a low phase in her professional life, and Dilwale boosted her career. Dilwale was also Suniel Shetty's first silver jubilee hit. 

Not Raveena Tandon but this actress was the first choice for the film

As per the media reports, Divya Bharti was signed for the film, but due to her untimely demise, Raveena was signed for the film.

Made with a budget of Rs 2.10 crores, the film was released in cinemas on February 4, 1994. The movie opened with positive reviews from critics and audience. As Box Office India reported, the film grossed Rs 11 crores worldwide.  

Dilwale and it's remakes

Dilwale was remade twice in Dhallywood (Bangladesh's film industry) as Shopner Basor (2002) with Shabnor, Riyaz and Shakib Khan. In 2014, the film was again remade into Prem Korbo tomar sathe (2014) with Zayed Khan, Mamo and Milon.
