Those who have watched Sanju are aware that it bashed the media for creating a certain perception about the Munna Bhai actor, on whose life the movie is based. In fact, it also showed the media in a negative light and even had an entire song hammering the notion to effect.
This didn’t go down well with most members of the media and when they got their chance to interrogate Sanjay Dutt, who was promoting his upcoming release, they didn’t spare him. Says a source, “The actor was in a Mumbai-based studio interacting with representatives of various channels. But the journalists kept asking him about the ‘media bashing’ in Sanju. He didn’t give a proper response and at one point, even mentioned he shouldn’t be blamed as he hadn’t written the anti-media track.”
But after repeated conversations on the same topic, all hell broke loose. Our source, who was present there at that time, reveals, “Sanjay apparently lost his temper on the film’s team and left in a huff. Now, he has cancelled all the other interviews. He doesn’t want to promote the film anymore.” Baba (as Sanjay is fondly called) toplines the cast in his forthcoming release and the rest of the actors are finishing their promotions.
Reportedly, several calls have been made to the actor, but to no avail. “The team has been trying to cajole Sanjay to speak to the press. But he has a few conditions. His team is selecting the journos for the interviews, which may be done in Lucknow where he’s shooting for Prassthanam,” adds the source.
