Amitabh Bachchan, Prabhas, Deepika Paudkone-starrer Kalki 2898 AD is currently this year's biggest blockbuster. Apart from the primary cast, another actor in the film is busy garnering praise from the audience, Humhu. In the Nag Ashwin-directed, Humhu plays bounty hunter Krane, who goes head-to-head with Prabhas' Bhairava.
Born as Himanshu, Humhu hails from a non-filmy background in Bihar. His father was in the military, and thus he stayed in different parts of the country in his childhood. Humhu was always inclined towards acting, and he used to actively participate in school plays. When Humhu was studying in college, he joined a theatre group and acted, wrote, and directed several plays.
Before Kalki 2898 AD Humhu was in depression?
In an interview with Dainik Bhaskar, Humhu revealed that after he decided to pursue acting full-time, he reached Mumbai, and started struggling. To survive in the city, he even started photography. However, nothing major was happening in Humhu's life, and then he started battling with depression. He said, "Life was difficult before Kalki 2898 AD. I was stressed and worried due to financial constraints. To survive in a city like Mumbai is the biggest challenge."
He further revealed, "I had gone into depression. Due to this, I had to resort to therapy and meditation, but initially, I was not able to face this truth. Even today people in society do not talk openly about depression. I was also not able to do so. Nor was I ready to take its therapy. People also did not understand my problem, even family members ignored it."
Humhu wanted to kill himself?
The actor said that when he struggled for work, he was also dealing with negative thoughts. "I started questioning my own work. I used to call my own work bad and useless. I had assumed that I came in the wrong field and my work would not be appreciated by anyone," Humhu said. He further revealed, "The level of negative thoughts had increased to such an extent that I wanted to commit suicide. I used to think that it is better to die than to have nothing happen."
Is Humhu still battling with depression?
Humhu said that when his Kalki co-star Deepika Padukone opened up about being in depression, then it became easier for him to battle it and explain others. "Today, therapy has made my life much easier. However, I am still in depression. I may never be able to get out of it, but due to therapy, I have learned to control it. I have learned to use the darkness of depression in my craft." Speaking about his character's return in Kalki Part 2, he said that although his character is alive in Kalki 2898 AD, there is no major update about Krane returning in Part 2.
