Rajinikanth’s latest release ‘Jailer’ has proved to be a blockbuster with the film earnings more than Rs 600 crore worldwide. The superb performance of ‘Jailer’ at the box-office has left everyone impressed and Sun Group founder and Chairman Kalanithi Maran has gifted new BMW X7 worth Rs 1.25 crore to Rajinikanth. Kalanithi Maran owns Sun Pictures, which produced ‘Jailer’. It is learnt that Rajinikanth was also given a cheque for an undisclosed amount by Kalanithi Maran. Rajinkanth, 72, met Kalanithi Maran and during the meeting the latter presented the car and the cheque to the megastar.
According to Manobala Vijayabalan, a well-known film trade analyst, Maran handed over a cheque worth Rs 100 crore to the ‘2.0’ star. It is to be noted that Rajinikanth was also paid a remuneration of Rs 110 crore for Jailer, which means he has earned a total of Rs 210 crore for the film and thus Rajinikanth has now become the highest-paid actor in India.
Reports claimed that Maran also urged Rajhinikanth to to work on "one more film" after the completion of Lokesh Kanagaraj's project 'Thalaivar 171'.
Manobala also shared the worldwide earnings of ‘Jailer’ and said that the film earned Rs 625 crore in just 22 days since its release on August 10. According to Manobala, ‘Jailer’ is on track to earn Rs 650 crore.
In 'Jailer', besides Rajinikanth, Mohanlal, Shivarajkumar and Jackie Shroff are also in pivotal roles. Jailer is directed by Nelson Dilipkumar.
