'Mission Mangal' Box Office Report Day 18: Akshay Kumar starrer all set to break record set by '2.0'

After becoming Akshay Kumar's highest opening day film, Mission Mangal might go on to also break records set by his previous release 2.0's Hindi version

Mission Mangal starring Akshay Kumar, Vidya Balan, Sonakshi Sinha, Taapsee Pannu, Kirti Kulhari, Nithya Menon and Sharman Joshi in pivotal roles, has been working at the Box Office since its release. The movie has gone on to break records set by Akshay Kumar.

Mission Mangal went on to become Akshay Kumar's highest opening film till date. The movie is now all set to cross records which were made by Akshay and Rajinikanth starrer 2.0. The sequel to Robot which released in 2018 was one of the highest grossing films of 2018.

By day 18 of its release, Mission Mangal, according to a report on Business Today, minted Rs. 188 crore net. Earning Rs. 3 crore on third Sunday, Mission Mangal collected Rs. 190 crore gross, making it approximately Rs. 6 crore collections over the third weekend.

Once Akshay Kumar's Mission Mangal crosses Rs. 189.55 crore mark, which doesn't appear that far away, the film will go on to make a new record, beating the one set by 2.0 (Hindi version). The movie needs to however remain steady despite tough competition from Prabhas-Shraddha Kapoor starrer Saaho.

Opening Day:  Rs 29.16 crore

End of Opening Weekend: Rs 97.56 crore

End of Week 1: Rs 128.16 crore

End of Week 2: Rs 178.11 crore (Friday)

 

The same report goes on to state that Mission Mangal has minted Rs. 1.96 lacs from two screens in Australia and Rs. 98,498 from seven screens in New Zealand. This makes the worldwide collection of Mission Mangal so far at Rs. 251.16 crore.

Mission Mangal, made of budget of Rs. 32 crore, is directed by Jagan Shakti and produced by R. Balki. The movie is loosely based on the story of scientists at Indian Space Research Organisation who contributed to the Mars Orbiter Mission, India's first interplanetary expedition. The movie is jointly produced by Cape of Good Films, Hope Productions, Fox Star Studios, Aruna Bhatia, and Anil Naidu.

Mission Mangal and Batla House are currently facing competition from Prabhas-Shraddha Kapoor's much-awaited movie Saaho, which released on August 30. Saaho went on to become the second highest grossing film on opening day in India.
