'I have to say the same thing that I said 10 years back', said Nana Patekar

In the wake of Tanushree Dutta's allegations agains veteran actor Nana Patekar, of sexually harassing her on the sets of the film Horn Ok Pleassss, a decade ago, Nana Patekar finally came to face the media. The actor had been away, shooting for Housefull 4 in Jodhpur and was supposed to hold a press conference on Monday afternoon, to address the issue and the accusations against him by Tanushree. Later, word got out that the press conference stands cancelled.

But turns out that Nana Patekar finally came out to face the media on Monday afternoon around 3: 45 pm, but refused to answer any questions on the controversy. The actor just clarified why he cancelled the press conference and said, "Mere vakil ne kaha kisi bhi channel se baat mat karo, nahi toh main hamesha hi aap sab se milte rehta hu aur mujhe koi dikkat nai thi. Par unhone jab kaha hai toh mujhe yeh karna pada. So, will you please pardon me for that. (My lawyer has advised me not to speak with any media channel. I always meet you (media) and I did not have any problem in doing so now too but when my lawyer has advised me otherwise this time, I'll have to listen to him.)"

On being asked further just to put out his side or a statement from his end, on what he has to say about the matter, Nana Patekar said, "Jo 10 saal pehle bolna tha, wohi bolna hai. Kal jo sach tha, wohi aaj sach hai, aaj jo sach hai, kal wohi sach rahega, woh badalte nahi rahega. (What I said 10 years back is what I have to say now. What was true yesterday is what's true today. What's true today will be the truth in future too. The truth won't keep on changing)."

The actor left after clarifying why he cancelled the press conference and maintaining the same stance that he had on the issue 10 years back.

For those who're uninitiated, Tanushree Dutta has alleged Nana Patekar of harassing her on the sets of the film Horn OK Pleassss while she was there to shoot for a dance number. She claimed that Nana Patekar was particularly interested in teaching her the choreography of the dance steps himself when he wasn't even required on the sets apparently. Later, he wanted to do an intimate dance step with her in the song, when apparently, he wasn't supposed to be a part of the song in the first place.

A  number of Bollywood celebs have come out in support of Tanushree Dutta, saying that they believe her story. This has also led to a number of other women calling out other celebs and known names for alleged sexual harassment. The entire Tanushree Dutta - Nana Patekar controversy is now being looked at what can be the start of a #MeToo movement in India.
