The biopic, based on the life of Shiv Sena supremo, is all set to go on floors on March 25

After the controversy revolving around his scandalous revelations in the book, An Ordinary Life: A memoir, it was confirmed that Nawazuddin Siddiqui will be seen playing the role of late Bal Thackeray in his biopic. While the film was announced last year in December, the movie did not hit the floors as Nawazuddin was undergoing diction and vocal training to perfect his role as the Shiv Sena supremo.

Now as per a report in Mumbai Mirror, the movie is all set to go on floors on March 25 and will release on Balasaheb Thackeray’s 93rd birth anniversary, which falls on January 23, 2019.

Apparently, the film will be shot across several locations in Maharashtra including Matoshree — the late Shiv Sena head’s residence in Mumbai. Talking about the movie, Shiv Sena politician Sanjay Raut revealed to Mumbai Mirror, “It is a full fledged commercial film which will be shot at approximately 108 locations, including the Lucknow Court that Balasaheb Thackeray visited during the Babri Masjid demolition hearing.”

For those of you who think that the biopic will only focus on Bal Thackeray’s political journey, it is said that the film will in fact trace his journey from a young Marathi ethnocentric cartoonist to the politician who changed the face of Maharashtra forever.

The feature film has been directed by MNS leader Abhijeet Panse and the producer-writer of the movie is Rajya Sabha MP and Shiv Sena's spokesperson. The film will showcase many aspects of Bal Thackeray's life, including 1993 Mumbai Riots.
