Bareilly Ki Barfi's hit team Pankaj Tripathi and Rajkummar Rao reunites for 'Newton'

Aamir Khan prefers only one film a year, Shah Rukh Khan and Salman Khan have also come down to maximum two release per year. But Rajkummar Rao has had a record breaking 2017 with 6 films and 1 web series up for the audience. By the looks of it the audience isn't complaining too! Apart from 'Raabta' where he was unrecognisable post the prosthetics, every film has received love and appreciation for the talented actor. Trapped, Behan Hogi Teri, Bareilly Ki Barfi, Newton, Omerta and web series Bose, phew! That's a huge list of releases for one year.

While promoting his Friday release Newton in Delhi the actor said, "It’s been a very exciting year. Best year was 2010 when I was offered my first film and from where it all began." Not looking exhausted with back to back releases and gruesome round of promotions too, Rajkummar is happy with good scripts coming his way. No wonder the song from Newton, 'Chal tu apna kaam kar' is his motto in life too. 'Newton' actor said, " I believe in the philosophy of live and let live. These days we are too much interested in what other people are doing, what they are eating or where they are going. That’s not done. Live your life and let other people live."

Newton is about a government clerk who is fighting against laid back system in our democracy. Newton reminds us of Pankaj Kapoor's character Mussadilal in the TV show 'Office Office' . Rao is a fan and doesn't want to compare, "Office Office is one of my favourite show but Newton is also amazing film.  Reason why we have got awards at Tribeca and Hong Kong film festivals is because it is also a powerful film. We should not even compare, that was a cult show." Pankaj Tripathi added, "Office Office’s premise was inside an office, our film is shot in a jungle and with real people. The only similarity is both have a dark humour."

After seven years in the industry, Rajkummar Rao's talent is being noticed by mainstream filmmakers too. Varun Dhawan recently confessed that his father filmmaker David Dhawan wants to work with Rajkummar. Enjoying all the compliments coming his way, the actor said, "I love David sir and I love varun too. David ji is my senior from FTII . In fact, he was among the first one to call me after watching 'Bareilly Ki Barfi'. I am a big fans of his films. I really hope we get to work together one day. It will be really special."

But the actor is no mood to rest on the laurels. Next comes his debut on digital platform with Hansal Mehta and Ekta Kapoor's 'Bose'. The actor went bald and gained weight for therole of the freedom fighter calls it his most ambitious project till date. " I am done shooting for Bose, that’s the reason losing up the weight now. It’s one of my most ambitious project. The way it’s been shot, the scale on it’s been shot on, it’s something never been seen before on web platform. I am very proud of it, waiting for post production to get over now."
