Priyanka Chopra has found herself in a controversy because of her cleavage-baring picture in the Assam Tourism calendar. The actress, who's the brand ambassador of Assam Tourism would never have thought that just a slightly revealing outfit would end up in her facing flak.
Rupjyoti Kurmi, a Congress MLA commented, "The government should preserve the respect of the Assamese society. Frock is not an Assamese attire and the calendar pictures were not sober at all. The government should have known how to preserve the prestige of the Assamese society, instead, they could have used the traditional mekhela sador. This is the reason we have protested against the calendar.”
While the debate over PC's attire has turned into a hot topic of discussion on social media platforms, turns out that Priyanka is not the only actress to be on the receiving end of criticism for her cleavage-revealing outfit. In the past, actresses like Disha Patani and Nargis Fakhri too have been slammed for their cleavage-show.
Disha Patani, who's a huge hit among the youth, got the brickbats for wearing a bold, cleavage-baring attire at the 2017 Filmfare Awards. A picture went viral on social media platforms in which a guy sitting next to her can be seen ogling at her. It did not end there. When the actress shared an image of herself in the same dress on her Instagram account, netizens started slamming her left, right and centre.
The actress had then hit back at haters by sharing a very strong message. She had posted, "“Have been reading so many news lately on molestation and rape! When people in our country are worshipping goddesses what a shame for not being respectful enough to know certain boundaries that make you a human and not an animal! It’s easier to judge a woman on the basis of how much they cover up their skin, but it’s hard to accept your own cheap mentality where you can’t stop staring at those inappropriate areas which you are asking her to cover! Wake up and start accepting that we are not going to be anybody’s idea of an “Indian girl”. Don’t let your frustration destroy somebody’s life because you won’t be happy if it happens in your own family! Stop this hypocrisy and open your mind!”
Well, that's not all. Nargis Fakhri went on a popular dance reality show to promote her film and was asked to 'cover-up' her cleavage-baring dress since it was apparently, 'too bold' for th Television audience. Not jsut that, the actress had to pin up her dress and then shoot for the rest of the show.
