Varun Dhawan continues to shine brightly at the box-office even with his latest release 'October'. Directed by Shoojit Sircar, the film may have been a slow starter as compared to Varun's previous films but thanks to good word of mouth publicity, October is gearing momentum at the box-office.

The film opened to 5 crores earning on the first day of its release and has managed to earn a total of 20.25 crores over the first weekend. Banita Sandhu's maiden Bollywood venture in spite of being a niche film has opened to the decent start and now all eyes will be on its collections over the week.

Trade analyst Taran Adarsh tweeted the figures: “#October witnessed ample growth on Sat and Sun, after a slow start on Fri morning/noon... While the trending is healthy, it’s all about maintaining the pace on weekdays now... Fri 5.04 cr, Sat 7.47 cr, Sun 7.74 cr. Total: ₹ 20.25 cr. India biz.”

The film revolves around Dan aka Varun who is a hotel management trainee and fancies his co-worker Shiuli played by Banita and how tragedy brings them closer in an unimaginable way. October has not lived up to the expectations from a Varun Dhawan film like Judwaa 2 or Badrinath Ki Dulhaniya which crossed 10 crore mark on first day itself. But the film is touching hearts of the niche audience for sure.

Varun Dhawan has often said that October is a small film with the biggest heartbeat.

After October, Varun will be seen in Sui Dhaaga with Anushka Sharma, Shaishank Khaitan's Ranbhoomi and Remo D'Souza biggest dance film with Katrina Kaif.
