The actor has been kept on a ventilator

The health of veteran actor Dilip Kumar, who was shifted to the ICU, has worsened. The 94-year old actor was admitted to the hospital on Wednesday, due to severe dehydration and urinary infection.

"His kidney functions have not improved. On the contrary it has worsened.  He is on the ventilator and we will be able to give a proper briefing in the morning," said  Jalil Parkar, his doctor at Lilavati Hospital.

It was earlier reported this morning that he was doing fine. Wife Saira Banu had told PTI that he was recovering well. She was quoted as saying, "He is doing much better than yesterday. But he will be in hospital today. The doctors here are taking good care of him."

But if the recent reports are to be believed, then the actor has now been shifted to the ICU post the rise in his creatinine levels in blood. An Indian Express report quoted the team of doctors as informing, "Dilip Kumar's creatinine levels are rising. He is going into renal failure. Given his age, it is serious."

The legendary actor has been honoured with the Padma Bhushan award in the year 1991 and the Dadasaheb Phalke award in 1994. Most recently, he was warded with the Padma Vibhushan this year for his immense contribution to Indian cinema.

We hope and wish for his speedy recovery!
