Akshay Kumar has become the hero of aam aadmi on the big screen. He fought against open defecation in his last release 'Toilet Ek Prem Katha' and now the actor is all set to return to the big screen to lend his voice for yet another social cause.
This time he is playing the role of PadMan. Akki unveiled the first poster of the film on Instagram and captioned, " Super Hero Hai Ye pagla, aa raha hai 26th January 2018 ko". The film is a biopic and based on the life of Arunachalam Muruganantham, the man who invented low-cost sanitary pads and fought for women's basic right for menstrual hygiene.
Although the female cast is missing in the first poster, this R Balki film also stars Sonam Kapoor and Radhika Apte in the lead. Inspired by the story in Mrs Funnybones' last book, the film also marks the debut of his wife Twinkle Khanna as a producer.
As the poster suggests PadMan is an ordinary man with big vision and that makes him no less than a super hero.
Earlier there were reports of Akshay Kumar's two films, PadMan and 2,0 releasing on the same date. But with post production work still pending on Shankar's sci-fi, fans will get to see Padman first on January 26th 2018. In an interview to a Mumbai daily, Khiladi Kumar had earlier said, “There is a lot of false information that is being circulated over both films releasing on the same day. Why would I clash with my own film? It will either be 2.0 or PadMan. While PadMan is a film that I have produced, 2.0 belongs to Shankar Rajinikanth and Lyca productions. They will decide if they want to release the film on Republic Day. If they do I will postpone PadMan and if they don’t, I will go ahead.”
