Pankaj Tripathi, who has earned positive reviews for his performance in Stree, is now prepping up to portray a Malayali actor-producer in the adult star, Shakeela’s biopic. Before he starts shooting, he’s watching Malayalam films to get the diction and nuances right as he’s required to speak a few words in the language throughout the movie. Moreover, he is also watching Hindi movies starring Malayalam actors to pick up their accent ensuring he enunciates correctly.
Pankaj enthuses, “I’ve watched the Malayalam film which inspired Billu (Shah Rukh Khan and Irrfan starrer) and many other films in curtain pieces, not entirely. My role in this film is something I have never done before. I always try that I don’t make the character a caricature. It’s a colourful role and there’s a particular type of body language, a hierarchy to it, a kind of status play as well.”
