Global icon Priyanka Chopra's memoir 'Unfinished' hit the stands on February 9. And the actress has been in the news for the same. The actor, who has divulged some 'controversial' details about her life in the book including addressing the 'Plastic Chopra' tag, facing racism and more, has apparently also spoken about 'patriarchy and favouritism' that exists in Bollywood.
In the much-awaited memoir, Priyanka has documented her journey from a small town in India, winning the Miss World title to making a name for herself in Hollywood. She also had written about having had several unpleasant, even shocking experiences in the film industry when she was starting out.
According to Zoom, in the memoir, Priyanka has narrated an incident where during the filming of a seductive song sequence, she was asked to strip off her clothes, one item at a time. And because like we all know, all Hindi film songs have a considerable length, she asked the director if she should wear a few extra layers, so that she wouldn't be 'down to skin way too fast', only to hear a shocking response.
"The director suggested I speak to my stylist, so I called him and briefly explained the situation, then passed the phone to the director. Standing right in front of me, the director said: "Jo bhi ho, chaddiyan dikhni chahiyen. Nahi toh log picture kyon dekhne aayenge?" which translates as "whatever happens, panties should be seen. Otherwise, why would people come to watch the movie?" wrote Priyanka in her book.
The following day, Priyanka shared that she quit the film.
"I was ready to go full-out as a temptress in the number. The director's words and tone, though, conveyed that he regarded me in a way that I found unacceptable," she shared.
Priyanka further revealed that when the director found out she had quit, he was "livid" because they had already shot for two days. She shared that he visited one of her other film's set where she was shooting with Salman Khan in an "agitated state", and that Mr Khan himself had to intervene on her behalf.
Earlier, it was revealed that Priyanka has addressed the topic of her botched up nose surgery in her memoir too.
