Alia Bhatt-Vicky Kaushal's Friday release 'Raazi' is showing no signs of slowing down even on the weekdays. Meghna Gulzar film has already created its position as the fifth highest opener of 2018 and remains rock steady at the box office on working days as well. The film collected 6.10 crores on Tuesday and it's dip from Monday to Tuesday is below 5 percent.
Alia Bhatt's spy thriller has raked in a grand total of Rs 45.34 crores in barely 4 days of its release.
Made on a small budget and meant for niche audience, Raazi once again proves that content is king at the box office. Directed by Meghna Gulzar, Raazi is based on Harinder Sikka’s novel 'Calling Sehmat' which presents Alia Bhatt in the role of Kashmiri girl Sehmat who is married off to Pakistani army officer to get information for her country in the times of war. The film also stars Rajit Kapoor, Soni Razdan, Jaideep Ahlawat, Shishir Sharma and Amruta Khanvilkar in pivotal roles. It is produced under the banners of Dharma Productions and Junglee Pictures.
Vicky Kaushal who worked with Alia Bhatt and filmmaker Meghna Gulzar for the first time in Raazi told DNA After Hrs, "I feel so blessed and happy to have worked with both of them because they are incredible women who inspire me and others." He also revealed that the team didn't expect such a fabulous response for the film. Vicky told DNA After Hrs, "We knew it would do well, magar itna achha kar jayegi, we hadn’t thought of. When I read the script, I was blown away and there was a beautiful feeling of gratitude in my heart for these people who live in anonymity to safeguard others. That, for me, is a huge selfless act of bravery. So, I said a silent thank you in my heart. And I’m so happy to read the reviews and see people sharing their feelings on social media after watching the film. This is exactly what we felt after reading the script and we were able to translate that on screen. It’s a surreal feeling."
