Ajay Devgn-Ileana D'Cruz first collaboration 'Baadshaho' may not have been a hit at the box-office, but their latest release 'Raid' is unstoppable at the box-office.
Rajkumar Gupta film has ended up being the second highest Rs 63.05 crore at the box office. With good reviews from the critics and fabulous word of mouth publicity, the film has went on to become the second highest grosser of the year after Sanjay Leela Bhansali’s Padmaavat. Raid has beaten the first week collections of films like Akshay Kumar and Radhika Apte’s Pad Man (Rs 62.87 crore) and Sonu Ke Titu Ki Sweety (Rs 45.94 crore).
By the looks of it, Raid will enter 100 crore club in its second week. Trade analyst Taran Adarsh confimed the box-office mathematics on Twitter and wrote, " Friday 10.04 crore, Saturday 13.86 crores, Monday 6.26 crores, Tuesday 5.76 crores, Wednesday 4.66 crores and Thursday 4.66 crores makes it a total of 63.05 crores.
Featuring Ajay Devgn and Ileana D’Cruz in lead roles, the film is produced under the banner of T-Series and Panorama Studios. It also Stars Saurabh Shukla in the role of a baddies who recently confessed that he was apprehensive about playing a dark role for the first time. He told PTI, "I am lucky to have got such a character. I am this dark, evil person. This was quite a challenging part as I have played grey characters earlier but not dark. "I was excited and scared as to whether I will be able to make the mark or not. I always feel a maker plays an important role as he has a great influence on actor. I have respect for Raj Kumar as his films has lot of layers and characters."
Raid is based on true events which occurred in Uttar Pradesh and has been inspired by real-life Income Tax raids which were held by Indian Revenue Services back in the ’80s and 90’s. It'll be interesting to watch if Raid makes it to the third spot of 100 crore club in 2018 after Padmaavat and Sonu Ke Titu Ki Sweety.
