Rajkummar Rao gets awarded for being the 'Breakthrough actor of the year'

Rajkummar Rao acclaimed as the breakthrough actor of the year

Rajkummar Rao​,​ known for his critically acclaimed performances in Indian cinema​,​ ​was felicitated with the ​Breakthrough Actor of the Year Award at​ a recently concluded award function, for his tremendous work in 2017-2018. 

Talented and versatile actor of the generation, Rajkummar ​has delivered some exceptional performances in Bose: Dead or Alive, Bareily Ki Barfi among others. He became quite a household name in Indian cinema with his marvelous acting skills in Trapped in which he plays a call center guy who gets trapped in his apartment without food. His portrayal of a honest rookie government clerk in Newton also earned him widespread acclaim.​​

 

​​​Accepting the award from the jury, talented Rajkummar Rao said, “It feels great to have worked with immensely talented filmmakers this year. I believe it has been a great year for cinema and I hope it continues.The dream that I saw sitting in Gurgaon that one day I w​ill​ do meaningful cinema ​is ​coming true. I thank the audience for watching these stories and assure them that I will keep entertaining them.” 

 

​The champions of creative storytelling deserve the glory and recognition in the industry. Mukti Bhawan won the first News18 REEL Movie Award for Best Film and Best Screenplay Award and director Amit Masurkar bagged the Best Director award for Newton.​

TVF Bachelors Season 3 received the Best Web Series Award.​ Meghna Mishra ​was awarded the Best ​Playback Singer​ (Female) for the movie Secret Superstar, while ​Guru Randhawa​ won the award for ​Tumhari Sulu​ in the Best ​Playback ​Singer (Male) category. ​​Tumhari Sulu also bagged the Best Music Award​. 

 

The event was graced by the presence of ​celebrities such as Richa Chaddha, Jim Sarbh, Dia Mirza, Gulshan Devaiah, Sonali Kulkarni, author Amish Tripathi, Anupriya Goenka, Amit Sadh, Rajat Kapoor, Saurabh Shukla, Boman Irani, Tillotama Shome, Satyajeet Dubey, Shrishti Arya, Amitosh Nagpal, Mghna Mishra, Sirsha Ray, Shweta Venkat, Sanghamitra Hitaishi, Kubra Sait and Rahul Bhatt.
