'Raju, Munna Bhai mein Ranbir ko mat le lena', says Sanjay Dutt on watching Ranbir Kapoor in Sanju teaser
Sanjay Dutt watched Ranbir Kapoor in his avatar and here's what he had to say
Finally, the much awaited first look teaser of the Sanjay Dutt biopic titled Sanju, starring Ranbir Kapoor was unveiled on Tuesday and it left us spellbound! The way Ranbir Kapoor has managed to nail Sanjay Dutt's looks, body language and mannerisms is simply mind blowing. It's not an easy task to portray the different shades of somebody like Sanjay Dutt's life so effortlessly on screen and going by the Sanju teaser, Ranbir has pretty much aced it as Dutt.
Not just us, even Sanjay Dutt was left short of words on watching a few rushes of the film, especially where Ranbir will be seen in the avatar of Dutt's popular Munna Bhai character. At the Sanju teaser launch event, director Rajkumar Hirani narrated the incident when Sanjay Dutt was shown some scenes from the film and how he reacted on watching them.
Hirani shared, "Since Munna Bhai was the first time that Sunil Dutt had done a film with Sanjay so a part of it is also there in this film. So there's a scene in which Ranbir is playing Munna Bhai. I showed that clip to Sanju with a lot of excitement. I had thought that Sanju would react because whoever had seen the clip had reacted saying 'Bada accha hai yaar, kya lag raha hai..'But Sanju watched it and didn't give any reaction. I told him to watch it again, this time more closely. He saw it again and again he didn't react. So I asked him, 'Sanju kya hua? You didn't like it?' Then he said, 'I don't think this is very good news for me'," and burst out laughing.
Hirani added, "Of course he said it jokingly. I think he (Sanjay Dutt) gets overwhelmed that a film is being made on his life. So right now he's in that zone."
In fact, before the Sanju teaser was unveiled, a special video message from Sanjay Dutt was palyed in which the Bhoomi actor said, "Mujhe toh ab tak yeh vishwas hi nahi ho raha hai ke meri life pe film ban rahi hai. I wish I could have been there with you all but I'm shooting out of India right now."
Talking about the unbelievable resemblance of Ranbir with him, Sanjay further said, "Maine is picture ke scenes dekhe hain and I can't believe how Ranbir is looking like me. Raju (Rajkumar Hirani), Munna Bhai mein Ranbir ko mat le lena, samjha?"

The film also stars Anushka Sharma, Sonam Kapoor, Paresh Rawal, Boman Irani, Vicky Kaushal, Dia Mirza and Manisha Koirala in significant roles. Sanju is all set to be released on June 29.
