It was being speculated that Hrithik Roshan and his father Rakesh Roshan were upset with the joke on the former’s extra thumb in Akshay Kumar’s Toilet: Ek Prem Katha. But that’s far from the truth.
For those who came in late, the film has a segment on Akshay Kumar’s father seeking a bride with an extra thumb for his son for astrological reasons. Far from fuming over the joke, Roshan Sr says, “I really enjoyed watching the film. I liked what it had to say. It is a praiseworthy mixture of a film with a message and entertainment.”
Hrithik enjoyed the film
Hrithik saw the film and enjoyed it. In fact, Hrithik and Akshay are neighbours. Says a source, “Akshay kept Hrithik in the loop about the joke on the extra thumb. Hrithik was okay with it. The Roshans know when to take a joke in their stride.”
Just a joke
Shree Narayan Singh, director of Toilet: Ek Prem Katha, admits he was nervous about the Roshans’ ‘thumbing down’ the joke. He says, “Yes, I was a little apprehensive. I am so happy that both, he (Rakesh Roshan) and Hrithik, liked the film and also took the joke in the right spirit. The joke was not meant to hurt anyone’s feelings and I am so glad they understood that.”
