Starring Prabhas as Raghava aka Lord Rama, Kriti Sanon as Janaki aka Sita, and Saif Ali Khan as Lankesh aka Ravana, Adipurush has been one of the most criticised movies in recent times as people have called it a 'misrepresentation' of Ramayana. Now, Zeishan Quadri, who wrote Gangs of Wasseypur along with Anurag Kashyap and also played the role of Definite Khan in the two-part crime saga, has slammed the writers of Adipurush calling them 'immature'.
The Prabhas-starrer had screenplay written by its director Om Raut and the lyricist Manoj Muntashir wrote the dialogues, which were heavily trolled for their 'pedestrian language'. Talking about them, in a recent interview with ETimes, Zeishan said, "I feel the writers were immature, you cannot put dialogues in the way they first presented in the movie. And if you feel that this is how mythological events are narrated, then sorry, you are not telling a katha (story)."
"A film is a much larger scale and it has a worldwide release. I’m falling short of words for this. Whether you feel good or bad, but this was very immature writing and majorly it has upset the audience worldwide. Ramayan is not your life, you are just a writer. It is part of a religion and how can you take it so lightly", he further added.
Zeishan stressed upon the importance of research before making any film as he stated, "Even when we made a film like Wasseypur, we put in so much research, whether we are portraying things correctly or not. So, one needs to research their audience also. Ramayan has been created numerous times, any Indian would know about it irrespective of their religion. So you need to research the audience on how they will react, which I feel they missed out on."
Zeishan Quadri was most recently seen in Shahid Kapoor's action thriller Bloody Daddy, which is streaming on JioCinema. The Ali Abbas Zafar directorial also starred Rajeev Khandelwal, Sanjay Kapoor, Diana Penty, Ronit Roy, Ankur Bhatia, and Vivaan Bhathena in prominent roles.
