Salman Khan replaced Saif Ali Khan in the hit franchise Race in the third part. Race 3 turned out to be an average grosser with many fans missing Saif in the film. Now, the film's producer Ramesh Taurani has opened up on the same and revealed Saif's reaction to being replaced in the franchise.
In an interview with Showsha, Ramesh Taurani opened up on if Saif Ali Khan was upset on being replaced by Salman Khan in Race 3 and revealed that Saif's market value at that point in time, did not justify the budget of Race 3. He said, "Saif and I never fought. Par haan, woh naraaz the. Race, after all, was his franchise. Race is Saif’s biggest hit to date. After that, the poor guy had four or five films that didn’t work well. Every actor goes through these kinds of ups and downs in their life. Race is a very expensive franchise. And you’ve to consider the profit and box office outcome of a film mounted on a huge budget."
He further added, "An actor’s box office standing matters when it comes to casting him in a franchise film. it just didn’t make sense (to cast him in Race 3). It was a business decision, nothing personal. He’s a very good actor."
Meanwhile, Saif Ali Khan will be next seen in the movie Devara wherein he will be playing the role of the antagonist Bhairava opposite Jr NTR. The film marks his Telugu debut like that of Janhvi Kapoor who will also play an important role in the movie, which is set to release in theatres on October 10. Salman Khan on the other hand is currently busy with his upcoming movie Sikandar which also stars Rashmika Mandanna and Sathayaraj among others. Helmed by AR Murdugoss, the film is scheduled to release in theatres on Eid 2025.
