Ranbir Kapoor-Alia Bhatt: 10 Times the star couple hinted at a brewing romance
Ranbir Kapoor finally admits dating Brahmastra co-star Alia Bhatt
The grapevine has been abuzz with speculation of a romance brewing between Ranbir Kapoor and Alia Bhatt ever since they began shooting for Ayan Mukerji's next, Brahmastra. The rumours gained momentum when the couple entered Sonam Kapoor and Anand Ahuja's reception together. Alia even instagrammed a captionless picture of them on her account.
And now that Ranbir has finally broken silence on their relationship, we feel it's a good hour to take you all through a timeline of all the things they have said about each other as of yet -
Alia has always had a huge crush on Ranbir Kapoor
Reminiscing her first interaction with Ranbir, Alia had earlier said on Karan Johar's chat show in 2013, "I remember the first time I spoke to Ranbir. You (Karan Johar) called him up when Rockstar just released and you said, 'Here, talk to Ranbir. Tell him how much you love him'. And I spoke so much rubbish. I was just talking non-stop, and he was like, 'Yeah, that's very nice, Alia.'"
"Obviously, I have hung out with him after that, and I still think he is really adorable. And I still want to marry him," the Raazi actress added.
Alia's love for Ranbir remained unfazed by his previous relationships
When Karan asked Alia if her gym-buddy Katrina was aware of her plans to marry Ranbir, she said, "Everybody knows my plans. I have gone on record and I have said it. I'm very open about it except to Ranbir."
Did you know Ranbir and Alia were approached for Ballika Vadhu-remake by Sanjay Leela Bhansali?
When asked how excited is he about working with Alia Bhatt for the first time in Ayan's film, Ranbir told Hindustan Times, "Absolutely! Actually not many people know this but Alia and I had done a photo shoot together for Sanjay Leela Bhansali when I was 20 years old and she was about 12 or even younger; I don’t know exactly how old she was.
Sanjay sir wanted to make his version of Balika Badhu with us so hamne ek full photo shoot kiya tha (we had done a complete photo shoot), so I am connected to her since then. She is a fine actor, very unassuming about her success and talent. Plus, she is very evolved, cool and chilled out, so I am looking forward to the film."
Ranbir has a boy-crush on Alia now
In a recent interview with NDTV, on being told that it's a dream come true for Alia to work with him, the 35-year-old actor said, "Well, I have a boy crush on her now."
There's nothing that Alia dislikes about Ranbir
When asked what does she like and dislike about her co-star, Alia told Filmfare, "I’ve gotten to know him in the last couple of months since we began work on Brahmastra. I’ve interacted a lot with him personally. But what I genuinely love about him is that he’s all heart. He’s a very very pure and simple person.
There’s no fuss and that same simplicity translates in him as an actor as well. That’s why you can always see through him and see into his eyes. That’s why he’s got that effect on you. He’s simple. He’s not trying to emote or express. Ya, that’s what I like most about Mr Ranbir Kapoor. What I do not like about him? I don’t dislike anything about him as of now."
When Alia discovered Ranbir is the Sonam Kapoor of men's fashion
In the same interview on being asked if she has made any discovery about him, she said, "I always believed that Karan Johar was the Sonam Kapoor of men’s fashion. But now I believe it’s Ranbir Kapoor. He’s a hidden fashionista. In Bulgaria, he was ordering things just for fun. I saw so many new looks.
One day he’d arrive in velvet, then one day in camouflage, then some coloured caps and pants... He’s smashing to a point where I’ve begun seeking his advice whether I should buy something or whether something is working or not. I’ve given the fashionista tag to Ranbir Kapoor. I believe Karan will happily give away that tag because he loves him too much."
Ranbir and Alia's wierd obsession with number 8
"Some weird and random things are similar between us. Like he has a fixation for number 8. And so do I. We discovered that when we started prepping for the film. I mentioned my email ID and he asked why it had ë08’. I said I just like the number 8. He said so do I. But he’s his own person. He’s a Libran and I’m a Piscean, two distinct star signs. I’m sure there are differences. But on set, we’re similar," Alia told Filmfare.
Both work like soldiers, according to Imitiaz Ali
"During Highway, Imtiaz (Ali) called me "soldier", which became a nickname. I asked him what he meant. He said he used to call Ranbir "soldier" during Rockstar as well. Basically, it means you’re like a soldier with the crew, you’re like a trooper. Ranbir’s a true soldier and so am I," she revealed.
Ranbir finally admits dating Alia
In a recent interview with GQ, on being asked whether he is dating Alia, the actor said, "It’s really new right now, and I don’t want to over speak. It needs time to breathe and it needs space. As an actor, as a person, Alia is — what’s the right word — flowing right now. When I see her work, when I see her act, even in life, what she gives is something that I’m aspiring to for myself."
Ranbir on the feeling of being in love (He had clarified on Koffee With Karan last year that he was 'single and bored' and was craving for love)
"It always comes with a lot of excitement. It’s a new person, it comes with new beats. Old tricks become new tricks again — you know, being charming and romantic, all of that. I think I’m more balanced today. I value relationships more. I can appreciate hurt and what it does to a person much more than I could a couple years back," Ranbir told GQ.
Alia fans have now moved over 'Varia' and invented a new moniker for her: 'Ranlia', just FYI.
