Ranveer Singh now has something in common with two of B-Town’s superstars — Salman Khan and Shah Rukh Khan. While he does have a massive fan following like the two heroes, it’s the directors he is working with that we are talking about. “Sanjay Leela Bhansali, who has worked with both Salman and SRK, has done three films with Ranveer. Befikre was directed by Aditya Chopra, who began his Bollywood journey with Dilwale Dulhania Le Jayenge with King Khan and went on to direct him in two more films — Mohabbatein and Rab Ne Bana Di Jodi.”
While this is a matter of the past, the actor’s next three films are with filmmakers who have collaborated with both the Khans. A trade source says, “Karan Johar has now cast Ranveer in Takht, while Rohit Shetty and he are working together on the masala entertainer Simmba. Both these directors have had a great track record with Shah Rukh. While Karan has teamed up with SRK for several films, starting with Kuch Kuch Hota Hai, Rohit made Chennai Express and Dilwale with him. Then there’s Kabir Khan, who will be helming ’83, which has Ranveer playing Kapil Dev. The filmmaker had collaborated with Salman on Ek Tha Tiger, Bajrangi Bhaijaan and Tubelight.”
Like the two superstars, he is also popular with big brands. The source adds, “Ranveer has had a good record at the box-office. Right from playing a guy-next-door in Befikre to the evil Khilji in Padmaavat, he has done a variety of roles. It will be very interesting to see how he chooses his films from here on.”
