The much-awaited trailer of John Abraham's RAW, also known as Romeo Akbar Walter, is out. The trailer, especially John's undertone performance, grips you in a way that you don't even realize till the trailer is over.
This trailer begins with John training at a camp. He is a family man. We can easily say this because in one scene John can be heard saying, "Jo bhi ho, meri ammi ka hamesha khyaal rakha jaaye. (Translated: Come what may, I need protection for my mother)." John has a lover in Mouni Roy and a mother who wants him to come back to her. However, John's love for his country is way above both of them. Hence the man, when assigned to stay in Pakistan as a spy, readily agreed to do so.
Jackie Shroff plays John Abraham's senior in the film and Sikander Kher plays a Pakistani cop who makes John's life living hell. Honestly speaking, John's character seems to have taken sketch from wing commander Abhinandan Varthaman, who was captured in Pakistan for a long time before being deported back to India. There is a scene where John outrightly refuses that he is an Indian spy as bravely as Abhinandan said in the viral videos, "Sorry sir, but I am not supposed to tell you that."
The movie dates back to the Indo-Pakistan war in 1971, right after the two countries were divided. Jackie tells John Abraham he wants to prepare the latter for a mission which can change the future of India. Thereafter begins John's journey of turning a man with different identities, none of which can be recognized.
What has caught our attention is the fact that despite being beaten and bloodied, John does not utter a word or raise so much so as his hand on the other person. What causes him to be so timind, is what has grabbed our mind in the whole trailer.
The patriot can be seen saluting the Indian National Flag from what appears to be the connecting border of India and Pakistan. Despite appearing to have lost, John Abraham can be seen smoking a cigarette in the last scene of the trailer. This man seems to have finally lived to tell his tale.
