Retaliatory Act: After Pak drops Indian movies, film industry at home hits back

The All Indian Cine Workers Association (AICWA) has demanded a complete ban on Pakistani artists and films and cessation of all cultural relations with Pakistan and its people.

The association has praised Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Home Minister Amit Shah for scrapping Articles 370 and 35A and have wished them luck on behalf of the industry.

A statement released by AICWA says their demand is in retaliation to the Pakistani government banning Indian movies in Pakistan.

The workers have urged a complete stop to any association with Pakistani actors, musicians, filmmakers, trade partners, other workers as well as diplomats.

"We have urged all big producers and directors and owners of channels to not hire Pakistani artists. They should instead encourage Indian talent," said Er. Suresh Gupta, president, AICWA.

‘Won’t Shoot With Them’

The body wants all association with Pak actors, musicians, filmmakers and so on, to halt completely
It hailed the abrogation of Article 370 saying it would help local talent in Jammu & Kashmir thrive in the industry

The association hailed the dilution of Article 370 stating it would open more avenues for local talent to flourish in Kashmir, and also offer more scenic locales.

"Shoots rarely happen in Kashmir these days. Manali is preferred. If shooting is encouraged in the Valley, talent will find a vent. We are also urging the government to set up a Kala Academy of sorts where artists from Jammu, Kashmir and Ladakh can be trained and shooting encouraged," added Gupta.

The body has further pleaded that all no Indian film be released in Pakistan.

It has also written to Punjab Chief Minister Amarinder Singh urging for a ban on a recent Punjabi film, called 'Chal Mere Put', released on July 28, which features three Pakistani actors.
