One of the people who stood out in Mardaani (2014), Rani Mukerji’s cop-franchise is the young villain, Tahir Raj Bhasin. The film started an interesting journey for the young actor, who played the antagonist in the gripping cop-drama. Quite naturally, actors have already started floating stories of being approached by filmmaker Aditya Chopra for the role of the villain in the Mardaani sequel. The PR machinery is active with many young actors claiming, “We’ve been approached.” However, rumours are rife that Adi is set to launch a new face as the merciless villain in Mardaani 2. Rani had wowed us all with her feisty performance in the super hit Mardaani as Senior Inspector of the Crime Branch, Shivani Shivaji Roy. In the second outing, she will be shown as a Superintendent of Police locked in a vicious battle with someone who can be described as pure evil!
Though the story of Mardaani 2 has been kept under wraps because the film will be launched later this year, one hears that YRF have begun auditions early enough and have even zeroed in on a 21-year-old, who will naturally be trained to fit the bill. “The makers have zeroed in on a young boy who will take on Rani in this much-awaited sequel. It will be a debut for this boy and everyone tells us that he is a talent to watch out for. If Adi has chosen him to be pitted against a powerful performer like Rani, one knows he must have definitely impressed the filmmaker. The role requires a menacing, blood-chilling performance and we are excited to find out who this young boy is,” reveals our source.
Mardaani 2 is being directed by debutant Gopi Puthran and will be Rani’s next after Hichki (2018).
