Riteish Deshmukh, Sonakshi Sinha and Saqib Saleem's latest horror-comedy film Kakuda is now streaming on ZEE5. The cast recently interacted with DNA and talked about their film, experiences while working together.
While speaking to us, Riteish and Saqib also discussed how the actions of one actor can impact others involved in the film. When asked whether actors should voice their opinions on political issues, Riteish Deshmukh responded, "Let me tell you where it affects. Take any actor who wants to comment on social media about anything, there are two sides to it - either people will like it or dislike it."
He continued, "Now, those who dislike the actor's comment will say his films should be banned. But it's not just his film. Other actors are involved: directors, producers who have invested money, and a crew of 200 people whose livelihood depends on it. So as much as an actor is socially responsible, he is also responsible for the consequences his actions can have. So we have to figure out that, and I'm not saying there shouldn't be social commentary."
He added, "It's not necessary that if I comment on one topic then I have to comment on every topic. Many times, people wonder why I'm silent on a particular topic when I've commented on others. And as much as social media praises you, sometimes it can be toxic too."
Saqib Saleem added, "We are actors, why do we have to give an opinion about everything?" Riteish continued, "And what happens is that opinions are sought only from actors, not from cricketers, not from industrialists, but as actors, they want to know what we feel." He believes it's fine to express views, but acknowledges it can impact those you work with.
The horror comedy film Kakuda premiered on ZEE5 on July 12th.
