Multiple Indian film stars are known for their charitable work and philanthropic activities. While Shah Rukh Khan's Meer Foundation rehabilitates acid attack survivors, Sonu Sood helped many migrant workers reached their home during the Covid-19 pandemic. Though Salman Khan has been helping coutless people through his Being Human foundation, it is not so common fact that he is also the first Indian to donate their bone marrow.

In 2010, Salman had pledged to Marrow Donor Registry India (MDRI) to donate his bone marrow and he did so to save a little girl's life. His brother Arbaaz Khan too joined him in his noble cause. Dr. Sunil Parekh, who served on the board of MDRI at that time, confirmed the news in 2010, as per a Zee News report. He said, "The people suffering from disease and I thank Salman Khan for coming forward and taking up our cause. Four years ago, Salman had read about Pooja, a little girl who was in need of bone marrow transplant. He got his entire football team to come and donate marrow. Unfortunately, they all backed out last minute, and only Salman and Arbaaz landed up donating and became the first donors."

Talking about how bone marrow donation is a problem in India, Salman shared, "We have only 5000 donors currently. It's not merely the lack of awareness; it's our attitude that's also the problem. And this will make us responsible for patients' lives. Donate marrow and save a life. It's just like a blood test and doesn't take time. I know some people are scared of blood tests, too... but it's time to become a little brave and make a big difference."

Meanwhile, on the work front, Salman will be seen next in Sikandar. The action-packed entertainer is directed by AR Murugadoss of Ghajini-fame, stars Rashmika Mandanna as the leading lady, and is slated to release on the occasion of Eid 2025. The actor was last seen in Tiger 3, which grossed over Rs 450 crore at the global box office.
