Reports of Salman Khan being finalised for the fourth instalment of the 'Dhoom' franchise have been going around since more than a year. The actor, who has a long lineup of interesting projects like 'Bharat', 'Bigg Boss 12' and 'Dabangg 3', had reportedly agreed to do the film and Aditya Chopra's team had also created reference posters featuring the star.
"While Salman and Aditya have been discussing Dhoom 4 for over a year, the deal was finally locked last week post the release of 'Race 3'. Adi plans to release 'Dhoom 4' in 2020. Vijay Krishna Acharya, who is busy shooting Thugs of Hindostan, will direct the movie," a source told Mid Day earlier in June, this year.
A Mumbai daily had even reported that although, his character will be on the same lines as Aamir Khan and Hrithik Roshan's, he won't be playing an out and out negative role. It also stated that Salman will be seen sporting long hair for the part and will also have a scar on his face.
However, earlier this year, rumours emerged that Salman has backed out of the film as the makers couldn't comply with his demands. The 'Sultan' actor allegedly didn't want to share a single frame with Abhishek Bachchan in the film because of his history with his wife Aishwarya Rai Bachchan. Abhishek's character ACP Jai Dixit has been an integral part of the franchise since its inception and hence the team couldn't find a way around his demand due to which Salman reportedly pulled his hands back.
Reports about makers being keen on casting Shah Rukh Khan and Ranbir Kapoor also surfaced some time back but YRF's spokesperson denied the reports saying, “Work on Dhoom 4 hasn’t started yet. There’s no truth to these rumours." Sources also suggested that one of the reasons of pulling out of the film was also his strange equation with Ranveer Singh, who was also reportedly approached for an important part.
But turns out, not working with Abhishek and Ranveer were not Salman's only concerns. As per Dailyhunt, Salman Khan admitted in a recent interview that he is not very comfortable playing a villain on screen.
The masses follow filmy heroes blindly and judge them by their antics on screen and Salman doesn't want to send out a wrong message to his fans. The actor apparently doesn't want his fans to indulge in wrongdoings.
