The actor says he hasn’t asked director Girish Malik to rework the film’s script

There were rumours that the script of director Girish Malik’s Torbaaz, which was being shot in Kyrgyzstan, required reworking. The filming of the Sanjay Dutt-Nargis Fakhri-starrer — that revolves around child suicide bombers — had begun in the snow-clad sovereign state of Central Asia last month.

Nargis had posted images of Dutt and herself on social media. Sanjay, too, turned a shutterbug and captured the picturesque beauty of Bishkek, where the unit was parked, on his personal camera.

Now, reportedly, the shoot has been stalled. According to a source, “Sanjay was meant to shoot for much longer but he is said to have left earlier than scheduled apparently because of some creative differences. Producer Rahul Mittra, and Girish have allegedly put their heads together and are trying to make a go at the story, after which they will give Baba a detailed narration. Following that, Sanjay and Nargis should resume work.’’

However, when we texted Sanjay asking him if there was any truth to him asking for a revised draft, the superstar said, “It’s not like that. I completed my portion and left Kyrgyzstan for Dubai on December 29. In fact, Girish also joined me there.   We celebrated New Year together and flew back to Mumbai. I’ve neither asked for a rewrite nor have I left any portion incomplete.”

Sanju also got us to talk to the producer, Rahul, who said, “Sanjay has gone out of his way throughout the schedule to help us complete the portion that we went outdoors for.” He too denied reports of a difference of opinion between the director and the actor. He admitted that others from the media were also asking him similar questions. But one thing is sure, Rahul and Sanjay have a good working equation because they are doing more than one film together.
