The actor and filmmaker had last worked together in Andolan in 1995

Ever since Kalank has been announced, the film is in the news for bringing together a stellar star cast. Not only does it feature new-age talents including Sonakshi Sinha, Alia Bhatt, Varun Dhawan and Aditya Roy Kapur, but the magical jodi of Madhuri Dixit-Nene and Sanjay Dutt, who will also share screen space after over two decades. But that’s not all. With this Abhishek Varman directorial, Sanjay and filmmaker Sajid Nadiadwala, too, have come on board on a project after 23 years.

It was in 1995 that Sajid had produced a film titled Andolan starring Sanjay, Govinda and Mamta Kulkarni. The action film was a tale of two brothers and the different paths they choose in life. Though the movie did not fare that well at the box office, it didn’t stop the producer from working again with an actor he admires. Says a source, “Sajid and Sanjay share a warm bond. They have been keen to explore creative opportunities to collaborate. Kalank proved to be the perfect film for them to join hands. While they often meet each other during informal gatherings, the duo will work together after over two decades,” the source adds.

Set in the 1940s, Kalank is a period drama being produced by Dharma Productions, Fox Star Studios, and Nadiadwala Grandson Entertainment. The film started on April 19 and is expected to hit the screens next year, on April 19. With a solid track record of blockbuster entertainers behind him, Sajid definitely understands the pulse of the masses. As for Sanjay, every outing of his is looked forward to by his numerous fans. Their coming together promises to be explosive.
