While we're still trying to get over the after-effects of watching Ranbir Kapoor's jaw-dropping actg in the Sanju trailer, here's an interesting back story that the actor shared about his poster with Paresh Rawal from the film. Before the release of the film's trailer, the makers of the Sanjay Dutt biopic had unveiled the character posters from the film one by one. In one of the posters, Ranbir and Paresh Rawal can be seen portraying the beautiful father-son bond shared between Sanjay Dutt and Sunil Dutt.
At the trailer launch event of the film, Ranbir Kapoor revealed the real story behind the said poster and shared its backstory. The actor said that it's from a phase of his (Sanjay Dutt's) life when he had become a slave of drugs. It was outside the premiere of Rocky when he hugged his father and begged him to save him from dying. Sunil then decided to leave everything and focus on his son. He took Sanjay to the US where he stayed in a rehab for two years.
The actor said, "Jaise aapne trailer mein bhi dekha ke Sanju sir ek drug phase se guzre. He was so deep in to drugs that he completely lost himself. He completely lost perspective of life. Actually Rocky ke premiere ke bahar jab film chal rahi thi, he went to his father and said, 'I'm gone. If you don't sve me right now, I won't be able to survive'. And that's when Sunil (Dutt) sahaab realised that his son has gone so deep into drugs that he decided that he'll live his life to make his son okay and he took him to America, to a rehab. So that was a very important moment in Sanju sir's life. That was a changing moment. He would have either died or he would have survived and I think he was brave enough to want to fight the drugs."
