Following in the footsteps of her parents, Saif Ali Khan and Amrita Singh, Sara Ali Khan forays into Bollywood with Kedarnath. Backed by producers Ronnie Screwvala of RSVP and Pragya Kapoor of Guy In The Sky Pictures, the tragic love story, which stars Sushant Singh Rajput, is set against the backdrop of the 2013 Uttarakhand floods. With her charming demeanour and arresting screen presence, the newbie not only has the audience but also the makers rooting for her.
Director Abhishek Kapoor, who launched Prachi Desai in Rock On!! (2008) as well as Sushant in Kai Po Che! (2013), is confident about Sara’s acting prowess. He says, “Sara comes from a film background, but didn’t have any acting experience. We had to start from scratch to make her film-worthy. Sushant had experience in television before we did Kai Po Che! In contrast, Sara is an absolute fresher. But she is gifted, has tremendous focus and is a good listener. She’s here for the long haul. I’m proud of her.”
Ronnie, who came aboard after watching 20 minutes of the film, was bowled over by the star kid. He states, “Initially, I told Abhishek that I have stepped in because of our past relationship, but after watching the scenes that he showed me, I told him that it didn’t look like it was Sara’s first film. It seemed like her fifth movie. She is an absolute star.” The early rushes of Kedarnath are out and feature the young debutante packing a punch with her on-screen presence. Sara’s debut ticks the right boxes, making for a perfect first outing for the confident young lady. She plays a small-town girl in the movie, and exudes spontaneity and sass.
The 23-year-old is seen depicting varied emotions and mouthing dialogues with utmost conviction. Be it romance, drama or dance, Sara has upped the excitement quotient for her audience with the early rushes of her film.
The debutante has been receiving appreciation from across quarters and there’s immense anticipation from her fans for her first outing. After giving a sneak-peek of her performance in the teaser, Sara left the audience spellbound in the trailer. This was followed by the songs Sweetheart and Qaafirana. Kedarnath opens in cinemas on December 7.
