Deepika Padukone in Kalki 2898 AD

Saswata Chatterjee revealed that Deepika Padukone filmed the climax scene while pregnant, and said Ranveer Singh was present on the set that day.

Kalki 2898 AD is winning hearts across the globe and the performances of the lead actors are responsible for bringing director Nag Ashwin's grand vision alive. The Prabhas, Amitabh Bachchan, and Kamal Haasan-starrer, Deepika Padukone also made a solid impact with her performance of Sum-80 (Sumeti).

In a conversation with Saswata Chatterjee (who played Commander Manas) recalled that mom-to-be Deepika shot the sequence in pregnancy. While speaking to News18, Saswata revealed that during the climax scene, where he invades Shambala with an army to abduct Sumeti, the actress' real husband Ranveer was also present during the shoot. He said, "Deepika is just ever-smiling. There is a scene in the film where I drag her by the hair. It was part of the last leg of the shoot and was shot in Mumbai because Deepika was pregnant by then. Ranveer came on set wearing an ensemble that was orange from top to bottom – tee, pants and shoes!"

Praising more about Singh, Saswata said, "He radiates such an infectious positive energy – he just can’t stand in one place! There was a lot of physical tussle in the scene, so I told Ranveer, ‘Don’t worry, for more physically challenging scenes, there’s a body double.’ He was so polite and humble. He smiled and said, ‘I know, Dada'.”

Nag Ashwin on Kalki 2898 AD Part Two

While speaking to Variety, the director Nag Ashwin revealed that they shot about 25 or 30 days, "but there’s a lot of action still left. It’s almost like a whole new production that’s going to start. Every loose end or thread that we left hanging has to be wrapped up," the director said.

He added that Part Two will witness the mighty clash of Karna aka Prabhas, Ashwatthama aka Amitabh Bachchan with Supreme Yaskin aka Kamal Haasan. "Obviously, the most important thing will be the face-off between these three, which will be between Yaskin who can now wield the Gandiva, which is thought to be the most powerful weapon, versus Karna and Ashwatthama, who are the most fearsome warriors." As far as box office collections are concerned, Kalki 2898 AD has breached Rs 700 crore mark worldwide.
