Tulsi Kumar redefines her versatility with a Sufi song for John Abraham's Satyameva Jayate

Singer Tulsi Kumar has an illustrious, decade-long singing career in all genres of music. From soft romantic ballads to foot-tapping dance numbers, old classic retro to unplugged, Tulsi has successfully excelled in all. However, this is the first time where the mellifluous singer has crooned a Sufi track for the upcoming John Abraham-Aisha Sharma starrer film Satyameva Jayate.

The singer of chartbuster songs like Soch Na Sake, Tum jo aaye, Paniyon Sa and many more can now be heard in a romantic Sufi song for John Abraham-starrer ‘Satyameva Jayate’. The song, titled ‘Tere Jaisa’ is a romantic Sufi number composed and penned by Arko Pravo Mukherjee and sung beautifully by Tulsi Kumar and Arko.

Says Tulsi, “I am delighted to have worked on ‘Tere Jaisa’ from ‘Satyameva Jayate’. The song is unique from what I have sung in the past and it will surely strike the right chord with listeners for it’s soothing melody. It was an enjoyable learning experience working on this track as I had to render a specific tone and feel to it and bring about a certain mature quality to the vocals.”

Music composer Arko Pravo Mukherjee who has composed the song Tere Jaisa says, “Listeners will hear a different tone of Tulsi in Tere Jaisa. I have worked with her before also and when she heard this song, She told me she had not done a Sufi number and she surely surprises with her versatility with this song.‘Tere jaisa’ is a soulful track about submission and acceptance in love and Tulsi has added her own style which makes it more interesting.”

Directed by Milap Milan Zaveri, 'Satyameva Jayate' releases on August 15, 2018. It is produced by T-Series and Emmay Entertainment.
