'Don 2' which was a sequel to the 2006 film 'Don', a remake of Amitabh Bachchan's 1978 flick of the same name, was a massive hit among audiences.
On Wednesday, filmmaker-actor Farhan Akhtar marked the ninth anniversary of action-thriller 'Don 2' starring Shah Rukh Khan and Priyanka Chopra, Boman Irani, Om Puri and Lara Dutta in the lead roles.
Celebrating and commemorating the 2011 film, Farhan shared a short animated clip featuring moving images of all the main characters in the movie on his verified Twitter handle. He captioned it, "9 years and counting, the chase is still on. Here’s celebrating #9YearsOfDon2 @iamsrk @priyankachopra @LaraDutta @bomanirani @kapoorkkunal @ritesh_sid @excelmovies @Javedakhtarjadu @ShankarEhsanLoy @RelianceEnt @TSeries #OmPuri #JasonWest (sic)."
Farhan used the same caption but shared a video clip on his Instagram handle featuring scenes and iconic dialogues from the film.

As soon as Farhan put out the two posts on his respective social media handles, fans took to the comments section to urge the filmmaker to direct a sequel to the 2011 film and make 'Don 3'.
"We want Don 3," wrote a Twitter user. "Waiting for Don3," wrote another. "Aare @FarOutAkhtar Bhai Don-3 kii confirmation to Kar do kripya Karke Folded hands announcement baad me Kar dena," wrote an eager fan.
On Instagram too, fans took the opportunity to ask Farhan to come up with the iconic film's sequel. "Sir Jiii... Waiting for DON 3..... Please bana do na," urged a fan on Instagram.
Earlier, on October 20, Farhan had taken to his social media to commemorate 14 years of his directorial 'Don'. In a very similar style of celebrating the film's anniversary, Farhan had shared a video clip of all the interesting scenes from Don and the dialogues that had captivated the hearts of the audiences. He captioned the clip, "He wrote, “Don ko yaad rakhna zaroori nahin kyon ki Don ko bhool jaana namumkin hai. #14YearsOfDon (sic)."
