After receiving rave reviews for his role as Maha Rawal Ratan Singh in Sanjay Leela Bhansali’s Padmaavat, Shahid Kapoor has kicked off the shooting of Shree Narayan Singh’s social drama Batti Gul Meter Chalu in Uttarakhand. But now it seems, the actor is all set to take a break off work to ring in his 37th birthday, which falls on on February 25.
Shahid, who hosted a star-studded sun-downer at his sea-facing residence on his last birthday, has decided to keep it a low-key affair this year. In fact, Shahid will take the spiritual route on his special day and will attend a satsang in Beas, the river-town near Amritsar, with wife Mira Rajput, daughter Misha and parents-in-law, Vikramaditya and Bela. In a statement to Mumbai Mirror, a source close to the couple, said, “Shahid and Mira missed Valentine’s Day and the actor wanted to keep up with the annual tradition of celebrating birthdays with satsangs and a visit to Beas.”
Meanwhile, Shahid will resume shooting for Batti Gul Meter Chalu a few days after the birthday. Recently when Mira and Misha were spotted at the Mumbai airport, rumours started doing the rounds that Shahid’s family will be joining him on the film set to ring in his birthday. But quashing all rumours, the daily quoted the source as saying, “It’s freezing in Uttarakhand at the moment and Mira and Misha are heading home to Delhi. Shahid will be flying to the Capital first, after which the family will travel to Beas together.”
Directed by Shree Narayan Singh of Toilet: Ek Prem Katha fame, Batti Gul Meter Chalu is said to chronicle a common man’s struggles with electricity shortage and the sky-high prices. The film, which features Shahid as a lawyer, will also see Shraddha Kapoor and Yami Gautam in pivotal roles.
