The CBFC asked the film’s co-directors Krishna DK and Raj Nidimoru to curtail Sid and Jackie’s lingering smooch.

Siddharth Malhotra and Jacqueline Fernandez’s hot-hot vibes in A Gentleman just got pruned by the Central Board of Film Certification (CBFC).

Nihalani’s last diktat

In what could be seen as Pahlaj Nihalani’s last hurrah, the outgoing censor chief left with one final proof of his sanskaari attitude to cinema. In A Gentleman, a long torrid kiss between the lead pair was given a firm rap on the knuckles. The CBFC asked the film’s co-directors Krishna DK and Raj Nidimoru to curtail Sid and Jackie’s lingering smooch.

Not a gentleman’s lip-lock

Says a source, “The lead pair’s kiss just went on and on unnecessarily, just like the smooch in the James Bond film and Ranbir Kapoor-Anushka Sharma in Ae Dil Hai Mushkil. We’ve asked them to take it easy. The film is titled A Gentleman, but the hero seems to forget his manners while kissing.”

Cut the smooch

Apparently, the kiss as it was originally shot, lasted longer than all other Bollywood screen kisses including the record-holding Aamir-Karisma smooch in Raja Hindustani. As far as Nihalani’s last bid to impose a sanskaari embargo on  a film goes, A Gentleman was told to cut the smooch by nearly 70 per cent and was also asked to remove an English-language expletive before granting it a U/A certificate.
