Watch out for Ajay Devgn's cameo too!

The makers of Ranveer Singh and Sara Ali Khan starrer Simmba have finally unveiled its much awaited trailer and going by the looks of it, the film seems to have all the ingredients of a typical commercial potboiler. One glance at the trailer and you'd know that all the essential ingredients of a typical Rohit Shetty film are peppered in generous amounts throughout! Be it the vibrant colour palatte, larger-than-life song and dance routines or the jaw-dropping action sequences, Simmba has it all.

The Simmba trailer begins with flashes of Ajay Devgn's Bajirao Singham narrting how a small boy got influenced to be like him on growing up, while he (Singham) was busy performing his duties as a loyal police officer. This young lad grows up to be Sangram Bhalerao (Ranveer), who is pretty much like Singham in terms of strength (and much more in terms of the muscles) but differs with the ' inspiration' in terms of ideology.

As the trailer progresses, Bhalerao shamelessly admits that he became a police officer to earn loads of money and not because he wanted to help the needy like Robin Hood (Dabangg deja vu anyone?). He takes bribe from the local goon (Sonu Sood) and also serenades his lady love (Sara Ali Khan) amidst picturesque locales. All is going well until a tragedy befalls and his mooh-boli-behen gets raped. The said incident turns Sangram into an enraged-but-responsible police officer. The rest of the trailer goes on to give us glimpses of how and what Sangram does to punish the rapists. The fact that Simmba deals with the subject of captial punishment for rapists is evident in the trailer. The trailer ends with the screen-shattering (quite literally!) entry of Ajay Devgn in his Singham avatar!

Simmba trailer seems to be the answer to what happens when 'Dabangg' meets 'Singham'. Ranveer Singh seems to be in his element and looks top-notch. He aces his part and doesn't miss a single beat. Be it comic timing or anger, he aces every emotion with aplomb. We had been hoping for him to collaborate with Rohit Shetty ever since the latter directed him for the first time in a TVC for a noodles brand. We knew that whenever these two will come together, the product will be nothing less than fireworks and here it is!

Sara Ali Khan, who makes her debut with Kedarnath this week, however, has little to do in Simmba it seems, except smile, dance and romance. However, this is solely on the basis of what we see in the 2 minute 54 seconds long trailer, in which she gets her first (and only) line after we've already seen half the trailer, ie., at one minute 54 seconds. Her introduction shot in the trailer has her like a breath of fresh air. We sincerely hope there's more to her character in the film, than what we see in the trailer.

It's so so nice to see Sonu Sood back on screen doing what he does best. He does remind us of his Chhedi Singh character but what-the-heck! He nails his act and he does it bloody well.

The icing on the cake is hands down Ajay Devgn's cameo in his Bajirao Singham avatar. We're sure giving a sneak-peek of his cameo in the trailer and his voice-over in it, will make sure that the Rohit Shetty film does get a dhamaakedaar opening!.

Rohit Shetty's Simmba is a remake of South hit Temper. The movie is presented by Karan Johar's Dharma Productions and is slated to hit the theatres on December 28.
